Elaborately carved armchair with mother-of-pearl inlay. Serpentine crest. Crest rail and stiles one continuous piece, with mother-of-pearl inlay in floral and foliate motifs. Straight, rectangular back (chair) with circular glazed porcelain tile at center depicting Japanese Samurai set in circular wooden frame. Surrounded by carved openwork, with flowers and birds, once again inlaid. Scrolled arms with inlay on front of arm support. Seat upholstered in embroidered silk at front and back; covered in plastic. Seat plain except for circular inlay on edges. Floral pattern inlay on front friezes; plain side rails. Below are openwork panels with floral foliate patterns; inlaid in front, plain at sides. Marlborough legs, claw and ball feet. Block, shaped vertical and horizontal stretchers. The whole covered in plastic, nailed in some places to the wood.
